Season 2 of Hulu's hit series Paradise spanned multiple locations including Colorado, Memphis, Atlanta and an underground bunker. Despite the far-reaching scope of the series, the entirety of Paradise was filmed in California.
For season 2, supervising location manager Duffy Taylor was tasked with utilizing California's diverse landscapes to expand the scope of the series, even creating Graceland from exteriors in Glendale and Westlake and interiors in Hancock Park, Windsor Square and Woodland Hills.
"We call that 'Frankenstein‑ing'—assembling different parts to create a complete world," Taylor said. "Watching it come together felt like a real achievement."

One challenge Taylor faced was filming snow scenes in 100 degree Pomona heat. The scene takes place in Atlanta during a post-apocalyptic winter and required a mix of special and practical effects. Digital snow was created by special effects coordinator Blair Foord, while Taylor and his team chipped away at blocks of ice to create real snow on set. Taylor was able to curb melt by layering the ice, keeping the internal temperature low enough to stay cool, while constantly replenishing the top layers throughout the day.
Both seasons of Paradise were shot in California thanks to $15.5 million from the California Film & Television Tax Credit Program, supporting $76 million in qualified expenditures across 96 shoot days and employing roughly 450 cast and crew members.
“I’m really grateful to the state of California for the tax credit program,” Taylor said. “To be able to work and then go home at night and see our families—there are a lot of grateful Angelenos and Californians who are super stoked about that.”
