Meet Latoya Murray-Berry
Latoya Murray-Berry is a costume designer and personal stylist with experience across theater, music, TV, editorial, and commercials including productions Law & Order: Organized Crime, Girls5Eva and Billions. With a background that also includes creative directing for streetwear brand campaigns and image consulting for new artists, she currently brings her skills in observation, data analysis, strategy, continuity, and supervision to the TV and film industry.

Spotlight Q&A: Six Questions with Latoya
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?
Since I was a child, I've always been in love with theater and costumes. Being a latchkey kid, watching movies made want to be a costume designer and work in the entertainment industry.
2. What is something about your role you'd like people to know more about?
Something about working as a costume designer, wardrobe supervisor or a costumer I'd like people to know more is that it takes a lot of brain work and careful consideration of others in our thought process and planning. There's also more administrative and field work than you would think.
3. If you weren't in your current role, what other industry job would you like to have?
If I wasn't a costume designer, the industry role I’d like to have is prop master. The props department is underrated. The strategic creative planning is on a different level.
4. What advice do you have for people just starting out in the industry?
The advice I have for people starting out in the industry would be to build your contacts, become active in your union, and to learn the ropes before you tie the knot.
5. What is your favorite production you've worked on?
My favorite production I worked on was Billions. Billions always kept me ahead of the curve and in the know about technology and lifestyles that were outside of the norm. I was able to transition on Billions from PA to Costumer. It was a good full circle experience.
