UK government figures suggest at the current rate of expansion Britain will be second only to Hollywood globally by the end of 2025.
More new studio developments are planned. However, the economic downturn, changing viewing habits and last year’s Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes, which hit productions, have prompted questions about whether all the proposed film studios will end up getting built, or be needed.
