Why do we need production incentives?

Well, think of it this way: producers, like any other manufacturer, have choices. They’re constantly weighing costs, and incentives help tip the scales, making it possible to bring film and TV productions to our communities. The reward? Economic benefits that ripple far beyond the set.

Take HBO’s The Penguin as an example: it contributed nearly $135 million to New York City’s economy, based on 112 days of shooting, that’s no small feat!

Over $73 million went to wages for more than 2,200 local cast and crew. And the rest?

• $60.8 million in local economic activity

• $6.3 million on location fees and permits

• $5.4 million on props and set dressing

• $5.3 million on transportation and car rentals

• $2.1 million on local catering

• $1.5 million on hotels and lodging

With over 40 states and countless international locations offering incentives, producers have options. But when incentives bring productions to town, jobs are created, businesses thrive, and local economies get a boost.

So, let’s keep the cameras rolling—and the economic benefits flowing!
